About Mary Faith Bell
Standing Up For Tillamook County
My name is Mary Faith Bell, and I am asking for your vote on May 19th to continue serving as your Tillamook County Commissioner. I have lived in this beautiful county since 2005. My career has been built on telling our stories, protecting our jobs, and making sure our community stays safe and strong.
Education That Works for Us
My journey started at a community college. It was there that I learned I could succeed, and it gave me the skills to finish my degree at Linfield College. This is why I am so passionate about my work as Chair of the Board for Tillamook Bay Community College. I want every student in our county to have the same chance I had to build a better life right here at home.
Protecting Our Local Jobs
As your Commissioner, I have been a fierce defender of our local economy. Recently, I stood up against groups from California that tried to change the rules for our crabbing industry. I fought to protect the small-boat fleet in Garibaldi because these fishermen are the heart of our community. I believe that our local laws should be based on real science, not on guesses from people who don’t live here. To me, fishing is more than just a job—it’s how families pay their mortgages and put food on the table.
Common-Sense Safety
I also lead our county’s efforts in emergency planning. We know that a major earthquake or tsunami is a real possibility. Right now, I am working with state leaders to make sure that the millions of tourists who visit our beaches help pay for the emergency supplies they might need. It is only fair that our local taxpayers aren’t the only ones paying to keep everyone safe. I want us to be ready for anything, and I’m fighting for the resources to make that happen.
Experience You Can Trust
Before I became a Commissioner, I served as the Director of Communications and Marketing for Adventist Health Tillamook and, before that, as editor of the Tillamook Headlight Herald. These jobs taught me how to listen to people and solve problems. Whether I am working with the Sheriff’s Office, the Fair Board, or our local libraries, my goal is always the same: to make sure your county government is honest, open, and focused on your needs.
When outside groups make rules that affect us, they don’t have to live with the results. We do.
